Cosmote supports Let`s Do It, Romania 2011
There are two more days left until 24th of September when Let’s Do It, Romania! starts the biggest event on social involvement: cleaning the entire country in only one day! COSMOTE is a partner of Let’s Do It, Romania! with communications packages that include Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 phones offered with the smartphone extraoption. “Let’s Do It, Romania!” is the biggest social involvement project from Romania, aiming to clean in one single day the wastes from the natural areas. COSMOTE Romania decision to join the cause of Let’s Do It, Romania! is based on the company’s corporate responsibility philosophy – to improve the social dimension and the environment where it operates.
Thus, COSMOTE Romania considers that it is an active member of society, and it strives to involve its employees, customers, suppliers and business partners in various initiatives and programs that respond to the Romanian social environment.
An example for this is the Green Office project, that started in 2008 and which aims to reduce the company’s environmental footprint. More specifically, this is an internal program focused on the education and the involvement of the employees in environmental protection activities, starting with their own office.
The employees followed intensive trainings about environment protection and recycling containers were installed in all departments so that the paper and plastic is collected separately. Over 6.25 tons of paper and 2.59 tons of plastic material were recycled and the electricity consumption was reduced in 3 years with 9.4%, while the water consumption was reduced with 40%.
